Choosing a gift for kids is always difficult, especially one that doesn’t break your wallet. It seems that many kids already have everything they could ever need or want. So, how to choose a gift for a child in your ministry, or even your own child? Here are 4 creative and inexpensive gifts that will mean the world to them:
1. Take them to a coffee shop. Yes, coffee. A child would love for you to buy them a hot chocolate and sit and talk with them. What kid doesn’t want to act and look like a grown up?
2. Go to your local zoo or aquarium. Most kids love animals and getting to see them, but they are going to love spending an entire day with you even more. Use this time to invest in them and remind them of how fun it is to be a kid. It will help remind you, too! Check out Groupon, Living Social, or other coupon companies to see if you can find any good deals to save some money.
3. Visit the park. Swing by the park one afternoon after school or church to swing, slide, and play games. Kids will love seeing you play games and act silly. If you live in a place where it snows, have a snow day at the park.
4. Bake with them. This gift doesn’t only have to be for your own kids. It can be for kids in your ministry, as well. Plan an afternoon where some children can come over to your house to bake some cookies or brownies and watch movies. Kids love to see where you live in “real life” and that you don’t sleep on the couch the in the church office:)
These 4 creative and inexpensive gifts are going to show kids that you are the coolest mom, dad, children’s minister ever! They are going to love it! But, most importantly, they are going to love you for taking time to spend with them and not be afraid to act like a kid again.
