I never knew how many championship rings are made for a basketball team!
Before the first game of this NBA season, I watched the presentation of championship rings to the LA Lakers. As one would expect, the rings were unveiled at center court by the Commissioner, but I was shocked to see how many there were ….about two dozen of them.
The announcer called the names and I counted out loud as ten rings were presented to members of the staff before the coach or any of the players got one. Rings were given to folks who never scored a point, never made a pass, and never got a rebound. Since everyone contributed to the success of the team, so everybody got a ring.
As the players were introduced Kobe Bryant got the loudest cheers, and the crowd started chanting, “MVP!” But I won’t forget that the Commissioner of the NBA first shook hands and presented a ring to all the behind-the-scenes folks including the equipment manager, the massage therapist, and the strength coach.
Among the folks you serve with, are you the MVP who receives all the accolades or the behind-the-scenes equipment manager? In the end, everyone will be recognized by our Heavenly Father for contributing to the success of the Kingdom.
