My smart phone that I had carried all summer breathed it’s last just before the close of camp. I tend to be hard on phones because I rarely go anywhere without it… and it normally wriggles its way out of my hand and onto the floor or into the parking lot at least once a week. I took my destroyed device to Verizon expecting to make an insurance claim. They looked at it, laughed, and told me I was eligible for an upgrade. Decisions. I went for the iPhone.
I love it! I love it’s functionality and it’s operating system… but above all else I love that “There’s an app for that.” Here’s a list of my favorite FREE app that I use frequently:
For photography:
PS Express: edit photos with the Adobe Photoshop and upload directly to twitpic, photoshop.com, or facebook. You also can upload it into Photoshop and continue to edit.
Bargains:
ScoutMob: 50% off local restaurants and a super-easy purchasing process. Also, random facts and a “stache cam” just for fun. (Disclaimer: this is not available for all cities.)
ShopSavvy: Find the cheapest groceries in the area by scanning the bar code.
For fitness:
DailyBurn: record your food intake, your exercise, and track your weight, and even chart your progress.
For finding the best places to run/cycle:
Trailhead: Explore the best trails and routes to run or cycle in your area. Know exactly how far it is, and even view it on a map.
Art Inspiration:
Pinterest: Pin your favorite art, outfits, recipes, and more to your digital inspiration board. Warning: Addictive.
Art Creation:
ArtStudio: Draw, paint, or sketch with your finger with a variety of tools and effects.
Productivity:
Evernote: Syncs with all of your devices… keep track of important projects one note at a time. You can even snap photos of handouts or events and drop them into the notes. All notes and type in photos are searchable.
